Imagining the Future

October 28 7.00 PM

What does the future of string music sound like? Imagining the Future brings together composers from both sides of the Atlantic, from a legend of the string quartet world to the newest generation of Norwegian composers. This concert features the Scandinavian premieres of Eugene Drucker's "Songs of the Earth" for mezzo-soprano and strings, by one of the longtime violinist of the Emerson String Quartet, and Mari Kimura's "Lambent Nishijin", in which motion sensors turn the string quartet's gestures into live electronics. The program also includes works for violin and piano by Danish composer Sophie Meyer and new works by young Norwegian composers from the NyMusikk Composers' Group.

Works by Eugene Drucker, Mari Kimura, Sophie Meyer, Maja Linderoth, Luis Fernando Amaya, Hermod Bentsen, and Julia Constance Wiger-Nordås.

Violinist and composer Mari Kimura, a pioneer of violin and interactive electronics, performs alongside Anne Sophie Andersen, Malthe Volfing-Højager and the EOS Quartet in music by Nordic and American composers, paired with tradition in the form of music by Danish composer Rued Langgaard.
