Malthe Volfing Højager is a teacher at the Royal Academy of Music Aarhus, and studied in the soloist class under Henrik Brendstrup. He is a cellist with the Aarhus Chamber Orchestra and an active and frequently engaged freelance musician.

Alongside his work in classical music, he works across genres and regularly performs jazz, rock, and other forms of popular music.

In addition to being a cellist, Malthe is also a composer. His works include Simple Pieces, written for Duo Sustain, a growing collection of songs for cello and guitar. His music draws on a blend of impressionism, jazz, and progressive rock.

In 2021, Malthe received the Carl Nielsen and Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen Talent Award.
